Last week we had been reading the story ‘Stanley’s Stick’ to enhance our imaginations. Throughout the week we went on a stick hunt and made our own pictures using the sticks we found. We also created a small fire to help the children understand what a camp fire looked like and how the sticks changed as we added heat. The children loved the experience and were able to make observational drawings as the fire was lit, talking about what they could see, hear and smell. The next day we used the charcoal produced by the fire to create our own pictures.
