This week year 4 got stuck in with their role to help others by going into the reception classes and reading to them. The children in both Year 4 and Reception loved this opportunity and will continue it each week.
This ‘Buddy Reading’ approach helps model good reading and allows older students the opportunity to develop fluency as well as a sense of pride in their accomplishments. In addition, they often come to see the value of reading.
