On Wednesday afternoon, Year 6 had a visit from a very special guest: Benik Afobe, who is not only a professional footballer but also an ex-pupil of Monteagle. He did a special assembly and talked about his time here at the school, his memories and his favourite subject (Maths) as well as what he has had to do to achieve his dreams to play football professionally. Benik spoke about the importance of always trying your hardest; persevering when it gets difficult; never giving up on your dreams and listening to the people that know, especially the teachers! One of his pieces of advice was that ‘practice makes permanent’ – so the more that you practice and do something, the better you will get at it. Year 6 were captivated throughout the talk and asked some very mature and well-thought out questions.
