Over the last two weeks, children in year 5 have been learning about the Ancient Egyptians use of papyrus. Did you know that we get the name paper from the ancient word papyrus?

The children then get an opportunity to create their own papyrus. The first step was to rip pieces of brown and grey paper in into strips. Next they got grease proof paper and layered their strips using a mix of PVA glue and water. We are now at the drying stage and cannot wait to begin to paint our images of the Egyptian gods and goddesses on them. Stay tuned for more updates but in the meantime check out the photos below:
