By reading and role-playing the story ‘Rosie’s Walk’ children have really understood positional language and have been showing an interest in the pictures from the story, therefore we decided to do a maths/literacy focus based on this. Children selected an image from the story, drew their representation of it and then used word cards to copy the positional term their picture reflected. This focus activity has allowed nursery staff to see the development of children’s drawing and writing skills.
