Year 3 have been taking a little look at decimals this week. We have enjoyed learning about them so far. We have been linking them to fractions as we have discovered that 1/10 is 0.1 as a decimal. This was easy to understand, and we can now convert any fraction of a 10th into a decimal.
We also discovered that it is the same as counting up in 1’s each time but with a dot in the middle. For example, the number after 29 is 30.

Using decimals, we noticed that the number after 2.9 is 3.0.
We have thoroughly enjoyed decimals so far and the decimal games have been fun too. We had to stick the decimal numbers in order from smallest to largest, which was easier to understand after learning about them.

Here are some pictures of us completing our decimals activity.
