5ZJ and 5F have had the opportunity to visit the University of Arts – Chelesea Campus as part of our context topic. We had a jam-packed day, full of creative activities. We were challenged with solving a real-life problem – creating a shelter using minimal resources after a hurricane. We had to envisage that our house has been damaged beyond repair and all of our possessions were gone. An aid relief charity have managed to get through with limited supplies to help the residents of Chelsea Island build a temporary shelter. The brief stated that all members of the group creating a shelter had to fit inside it. It was a tough ask, but we all managed it. We also created collages depicting what the environment means to us. These collages were then projected onto the shelters.

Check out the awesome pictures below of us working and exploring the University. The University continues to be a vital partner in giving the children an opportunity to visit a University as part of Monteagle’s 50 things to do before the age of 11 3/4 and we look forward to working with them in the future.
