In Year 6 as part of our work with BBC 10 pieces, we have been composing inspired by music ‘Finlandia’ by Jean Sibelius. Sibelius wrote ‘Finlandia’ to celebrate the Finnish resistance to the Russian Empire in 1900. Sibelius composed music to express what he loved about his homeland.

We have been writing music to describe what we love about our home and heritage. We have used ostinato (repetition), and pitched and unpitched instruments to create our pieces. We hope you enjoy this sample!
