In honour of Black History Month, we learnt about and celebrated some of the many incredible Black inventors. One of our favourite inventions, was thought up by three very clever Black Mathematicians named Katherine Johnson, Dorothy Vaughan and Mary Jackson. They worked together to calculate how to get NASA to the moon. Without these women, man may have never been able to travel to the moon. What an inspiration this is for us all!

We felt so inspired by these three women, that we used our cooking session to make delicious fruit “NASA rockets”. We used our fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination to carefully cut the fruit. We then used our creative skills to design our rockets. Finally, we used our knowledge of numbers to accurately count how many pieces of fruit we have used in total to make our rockets. It was such a great learning experience.
