On Tuesday, year 5 had a visit from the poet Kimba Bush. His lively character immediately caught the children’s attention and they were entranced. Mr Bush hosted an assembly where he introduced the acronym SHAMPOO (similes, hyperbole, alliteration, metaphor, personification, onomatopoeia, oxymoron) to help the children when they are writing poetry. The children then used the SHAMPOO technique in his workshop later that morning. The children were inspired by Mr Bush’s enthusiasm and talent and he was very impressed with the poetic lines the children came up with.
