This week, the children have been looking at a number of afternoon activities that are linked to some learning, but also linked to some every day life skills.

One particular activity that the staff love planning for is where the children have to search for a lost item around the class. This activity can be anything the children need at any given time, but this activity was finding one of their own shoes. The teacher would put the child’s shoe somewhere in the room, and it would be for the child to look everywhere for it! This is a great activity and a great life lesson as sometimes, things do go missing, but it is important to look for them and find them. The children did so well and was able to put their own shoe on too.

Other children looked at jobs in the world around them. They looked at pictures of police officers, fire fighters and other familiar jobs the children would recognise. They love looking at pictures of people dressed up in uniforms and were thrilled to be taking part in the lesson.

Take a look at the pictures below to see the children searching for items and maybe thinking what they would like to be when they grow up.
