As part of science week, we were posed with a challenge, to build the tallest structure possible. The only materials available; marshmallows, spaghetti and our science brains.

In our teams, working scientifically, we soon realised that this was  no easy feat. With encouragement from our peers, and relying on information from structures around the world, we succeeded in building structures of varying heights.

From our challenge we learnt that one piece of spaghetti was not very strong, but if we used lots of pieces we were able to build a strong, tall tower. Each piece takes a little of the weight of the tower and of whatever you place on top.  We also found that using a wide base provides a solid platform to build your tower from.
