As part of their trip to the Barbican next week to participate in the  London Symphony Orchestra’s performance of ‘Dreams of Air and Flight’, children in year 5 have been tasked to listen to Einojuhani Rautavaara’s  ‘Concerto for Birds and Orchestra’ during their art lesson. As they were listening to the music, the children had to create birds in motion through the medium of their choice. Some of the children chose to work in inks, others in paint, collage and pastel. We will select some of the works to be displayed at the Barbican

The performance  next week will feature new music by the renowned children’s composer, Paul Rissman and is inspired by the book, ‘Farther’ by Grahame Baker-Smith.

Check out some of the photos below to see the children working hard and really showing their creativity.
